Automotive Edge Trims & Seals
Automotive edge trims are frequently used within the automotive industry to prevent water ingress and protect edges. They are commonly used to create a watertight seal around the bonnet, boot and door on most vehicles. As edge trims can also be used to protect sharp and uneven edges, they can be fitted onto fibreglass and metal panels on classic vehicles and kit cars.
Edge trims can be supplied with or without a sponge sealing bulb. This sealing bulb is located on either the top or side of the edge trim and creates a water and air tight seal when compressed. The body of the automotive edge trim is manufactured with a metal reinforced spine that grips onto the edge without the need for additional adhesive or mechanically fixing.
These products can be purchased in a selection of sizes designed to fit different panel thicknesses. The sponge sealing bulb, located on either the top or side of the section, is available in a range of diameters designed to fit different gap sizes. You will need to measure the thickness of the panel that the seal will be clipped over, as well as the diameter of the sponge sealing bulb on your existing seal.
