Automotive Lip Seals
Lip seals, also known as edge trims with lip seals, are occasionally used with the automotive industry to prevent the ingress of water or dirt. They can also be used to soundproof doors and other openings to block out external road noises. Comprising of two parts, these lip seals feature a vertical or horizontal closing lip attached to a metal-reinforced solid rubber clip. The closing lip can be positioned onto either the top or side of the section, allowing you to choose a product suitable for most closing directions. This allows you to compress or deflect the lip up, down, forwards or backwards depending on the orientation of the closing surface.
The metal-reinforced spine holds itself onto the panel edge. It also strengthens the section providing a level of impact protection to the underlying surface. To identify the most suitable product, you will need to measure the thickness of the panel on the vehicle where this seal will be fitted. Lip seals can be clipped onto most materials, such as sheet metal, glass and wood.
