Silicone & Expanded Neoprene Sponge Cord

Manufactured from either white expanded silicone or black expanded neoprene, our sponge cord is available in a selection of diameters between 3mm and 25mm. This selection allows you to choose a section suitable for the size of the gap you are looking to seal, whilst matching the colour of existing hardware and fittings. As expanded rubber materials are soft, compressible and flexible, sponge cord can be used for creating watertight seals, joining into o rings, or making custom sized gaskets. The ends can be joined together using good quality superglue, contact adhesive or silicone sealant, depending on the chosen material.

Expanded neoprene sponge cord has an excellent resistance to UV, air and ozone so can reliably be used in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions. Expanded silicone sponge cord is slightly firmer than expanded neoprene so is often used with larger closing forces. It also has an operating temperature range between -60°C to +200°C so can be used for low and high-temperature applications. Both of these materials are closed-cell so will not absorb moisture or water.
