Seals & Trims For Solar Farms

Seals Direct specialises in the supply and manufacture of standard and bespoke rubber seals, trims and gaskets for use on solar farms and other solar PV projects. Protecting the structural integrity and efficiency of solar panel systems is important to any commercial or utility-scale installation. Tested against UV radiation to TS EN ISO 4892-2 (Xenon Arc Lamp Method) our range of rubber seals and edge trims for solar PV systems helps deliver long-term protection against weathering and the affects of UV.

Our clients regularly use our rubber profiles throughout the solar industry to enhance the reliability and finish of PV systems. They are ideal for edge protection on solar panel frames and aluminium rails, as well as for gap sealing between modules to prevent water ingress and dust accumulation. Many installers also use these trims for vibration isolation, helping to reduce noise and wear in areas exposed to wind loading.

Our sealing and edging solutions are trusted by EPC contractors, solar racking manufacturers, and renewable energy developers across the commercial and utility sectors. Whether for a 100 kW rooftop array or a multi-megawatt solar farm, we provide the technical expertise and product quality needed to meet industry standards.

Our experience in this sector has helped both refurbishment companies and new system installers identify sealing and edge protection solutions for their projects. Our extensive range of standard sections are available from our Hampshire based warehouse on next working day couriers. We also have the facilities to manufacture solid and sponge rubber seals in a variety of materials if your requirements cannot be met by an off-the-shelf product.

If you’re specifying materials for a solar project, our technical team can help you identify the most suitable rubber profile and material for your application. We can provide samples, data sheets and guidance on installation best practices.

Common Seals & Trims for Solar Farm Applications

Whilst all applications can differ, we commonly sell the following edge trims and rubber U channels for solar farm installations. These products are either tested for their resistance to UV radiation against TS EN ISO 4892-2 (Xenon Arc Lamp Method) or are manufactured from a UV stable EPDM.

Drawings and Datasheets

All of our products have technical drawings and material datasheets that allow you to assess the suitability of the item prior to purchase. Our material datasheets provide information on the material, including any relevant certifications, such as resistance to UV radiation which is often required for renewable energy projects.

Materials

All of our products are extruded and manufactured from high-quality rubber compounds to ensure they provide a long-term and hard wearing sealing solution. We offer a comprehensive selection of materials to suit different project requirements and environmental conditions, such as EPDM, neoprene, natural rubber, nitrile, PVC, silicone and viton. EPDM rubber is a popular choice for solar applications due to its outstanding resistance to UV exposure, ozone and extreme weather. For installations requiring high temperature tolerance, silicone rubber provides exceptional flexibility and durability.

We also supply PVC edge trims that are UV rated, as well as self-adhesive sealing strips for quick installation between panels or along frames. Each material is available in a range of profiles, including U-channel, P-profile, D-profile and custom extrusions designed to fit your solar mounting system precisely.

Our extensive range of materials allows you to choose what will be most suitable to your application. This allows you to select a material that allows for any external.

Custom Seals & Trims

Every solar installation is unique, and we understand that standard profiles may not always meet the specific requirements of your project. That’s why we offer a bespoke design and manufacturing service for customers who need custom sealing or edge protection solutions.

Our in-house 3D CAD facilities enable us to work closely with design engineers, project managers and manufacturers within the solar industry to develop tailored sealing profiles for solar panel frames, mounting rails, or enclosure systems. We can help you identify the most effective sealing products for your application, taking into account weather exposure, thermal expansion, assembly tolerances and installation methods.

Where existing seals or trims are already in use, our technical team can reverse-engineer your current component and produce an exact replica using a wide range of materials, colours and hardnesses. This process ensures compatibility with existing racking systems and equipment, while maintaining the durability and weather resistance required in solar farm environments. Minimum production runs start from as little as 30 metres, depending on the chosen material and construction, making our service ideal for both pilot projects and large-scale production.

In addition to extruded seals and edge trims, Seals Direct is a trusted supplier of bespoke rubber mouldings and gaskets for the solar and renewable energy sectors. Depending on the application, we manufacture rubber mouldings using compression or injection moulding techniques, ensuring precision and consistency across every batch. Our bespoke gaskets are produced from both sponge and solid rubber materials, with options available for single-piece prototypes or high-volume production runs.

From custom sealing profiles for solar frames to precision gaskets for junction boxes, enclosures, and structural mounts, we provide the flexibility, technical support, and manufacturing capability needed to deliver reliable rubber solutions for demanding solar installations.
