Self Adhesive Expanded Neoprene Sponge Strip
Our self adhesive expanded neoprene sponge strip is available in a range of widths and thicknesses to suit different sealing applications. As a closed-cell waterproof sponge strip, this material does not absorb water so can be used for making watertight seals on boat hatches, inspection hatches, lockers, cabinets and other enclosures that have a closing lid or door. Expanded neoprene is a compressible material that offers an excellent resistance to UV, air and ozone. It has an operating temperature between -40°C and 100°C.
This sponge strip is manufactured with self adhesive backing so can be easily stuck to most flat surfaces by removing the release paper and sticking in place. Although the adhesive scrim tape is suitable for applications that may be subjected to a small degree of moisture and water, it is not recommended for constant water immersion. Where a large amount of moisture or water is present, we recommend that you use plain expanded neoprene and a good contact adhesive.
To avoid the risk
of compression set resulting from excessive over compression, we recommend that
you compress this expanded neoprene sponge strip by approximately a third. It
may be necessary to fabricate stops around the edge of the hatch or enclosure
to stop the lid over compressing the section.
