Frequently Asked Questions
What tools would you recommend for fitting caravan or motorhome opening window rubber seals?
When fitting Caravan & Motorhome Double Glazed Opening Window Seals we recommend purchasing a cover strip fitting tool. You will need this tool to fit the grey, white or black cover strip into the window rubber. We also advise using a silicone spray to help the tool guide around the channel in your window rubber without dragging.
You will also need to fix the window rubber onto the wall of your caravan or motorhome. The best way to do this is to staple it in place with a staple gun. This will hold the seal in place and avoid the coming loose and creating an area where water can enter your van.
What tools would you recommend for fitting a screw cover strip or Herzim trim?
Fitting a screw cover strip, Herzim trim or awning rail infill is a relatively straight forward process but can be very time consuming. Without a fitting tool, you would need to squeeze the trim into the channel using your fingers. This can be a lengthy process as you would need to squeeze the trim every couple of centimetres along several metres of trim.
By using a fitting tool, you can easily roll the new strip into the channel. Using this tool allows you to fit several metres within a matter of minutes.
What is the best way to cut a motorhome or caravan rubber seal?
Most of our caravan and motorhome seals are manufactured from solid or sponge rubber. This material can usually be cut with a sharp pair of scissors or a Stanley knife. Alternatively, we sell a Neilsen Quick Cutters that can cut products up to 40mm in diameter.
