Rail & Transport Seals & Trims
Rubber seals and trims are used on most trains, buses and other vehicles used for public transport. The demand for rubber sealing solutions within this industry is heavily safety focused. Seals on these mass transport systems need to be manufactured from a fire retardant compound with low smoke and low toxicity characteristics. These materials are certified to EN45545 and available in extruded form in virtually any shape or size. This ability makes this compound ideal for fixed windows, sliding windows, door seals and safety edging for most public transport systems.
Our experience within the rail and transport industry has helped train restoration workshops, enthusiast groups and original vehicle manufacturers find reliable sealing solutions for their vehicles and carriages. We have previously supplied stocked and bespoke rubber seals for old steam engines and carriages, destination panels on buses and safety edging for the underground rail network. We hold comprehensive stock of all standard products and are able to dispatch by the metre or in large wholesale quantities from our Hampshire based warehouse.

Claytonrite Window Rubbers
Old
steam train carriages, older buses and destination panels use fixed Claytonrite
window seals. These rubber seals are available in a range of sizes depending on
the thickness of the glass and panel. They can also be custom made for bespoke
applications.
Flocked Window Rubbers
Sliding
windows on buses and small amusement train carriages often have sliding windows.
These windows use flocked lined window rubber seals to allow the glass to slide
within the channel. Available in a range of sizes.
Safety Edging
Edge
trims are used to help protect sharp edges. These sections are available
depending on the thickness of the panel they clip over. Please contact us with
your requirements so that we can discuss the best flame retardant material for
your application.
Custom Extrusions & Gaskets
A lot
of seals required for rail, buses and other public transport require custom
seals and extrusions. We are able to manufacture bespoke sections, such as
large window seals, from an existing sample or technical drawing.
Materials
All of our products are manufactured using high quality raw material compounds to ensure they provide a long lasting sealing solution. Where possible, we manufacture seals for rail and transport from fire retardant compounds with low smoke and low toxicity characteristics. These rubber materials are certified to EN45545 and include EPDM, Neoprene, Natural Rubber, PVC and Silicone. We can manufacture these seals in both sponge and solid materials depending on the required application.
Bespoke Rail & Transport Seals & Trims
We offer a bespoke design and manufacturing service if your sealing requirements cannot be met by one of our standard products. Our 3D CAD facilities allow us to work directly with Design Engineers to identify the best sealing solution for your project. We are able to reverse engineer your existing seal and extrude an exact replica in a variety of materials, colours and hardnesses. Minimum production runs are as low as 30 metres depending on the required material and construction.
Seals Direct are also a leading supplier of bespoke mouldings and gaskets. Depending on the seal and application our rubber mouldings are manufactured using either compression or injection moulding in a variety of materials and hardnesses. We are able to stamp bespoke gaskets from both sponge and solid materials from one off to large production runs.
