Self-Grip Lip Seals
Hatches on vehicles, boats and industrial machinery may use a self-gripping trim with lip seal to stop the ingress of water, air and dirt. They can be used to seal lockers on caravans and motorhomes, hatches on marine vessels or inspection hatches on industrial equipment. As the sealing lip is located on either the top or side of the section, they can be used to seal hatches that close from any orientation. As the hatch lid is closed, the lip is deflected or squashed helping create a watertight seal.
Manufactured with a metal reinforced spine, these self-gripping products hold themselves onto the panel edge without the need for adhesives, screws or other fixings. This metal core also strengthens the section protecting the underlying panel, which may be delicate fibreglass, wood or glass. As these products do not need bonding, they can also be removed, replaced and reused multiple times without damaging the section.
To identify a replacement product, you will need to measure
the thickness of the panel that this seal will be clipped over. This ensures
that you purchase a product that tightly fits onto the panel edge.
