Automotive Sponge Rubber Seals
Most automotive sponge rubber seals are manufactured from expanded EPDM or expanded Neoprene and are available in a large range of shapes and sizes. These closed cell sections do not absorb water and have an excellent resistance to UV, air and ozone. The operating temperature range of this material is between -40°C to +115°C, subject to the particular profile.
All of the sections are suitable for automotive applications. We supply a wide range of general purpose automotive seals as well as specific Jaguar, Morris, Triumph, MGB, Land Rover, and Mini parts. Although these profiles are designed for automotive use, they can also be used for other non-automotive applications where you are looking to create a watertight seal.
We recommend compressing sponge rubber by approximately 30% to avoid damaging the seal. For example, if you have a 10mm gap we suggest that you use a seal which is approximately 15mm high. This creates a good watertight seal and avoids the risk of compression set.
