Video Demonstration
This herzim trim fitting tool helps simplify the process of fitting herzim trims, screw cover strips and awning rail infill strips into Aluminum rails on the exterior of your caravan, motorhome or boat. These trims are aesthetic finishing strips that are used to cover the screw heads and fixings that hold the rail onto your van.
As these strips are wider than the channel they are being fitted into, they can be time-consuming and difficult to insert. This fitting tool helps simplify the process allowing you to easily roll the section into the channel.

This is a demonstration of how to use the Herzim trim fitting tool to insert screw cover strips and Herzim trims into Aluminium rails on caravans, motorhomes and some boats.
This tool has multiple uses and can be used for removing the existing trim and fitting the new strip. It is suitable for most Herzim trims, including those that are 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 15mm and 17mm wide.
Remove the Existing Herzim Trim
This tool contains a metal hook that allows you to remove the existing trim from the channel. Carefully position the hook under an available end, and pull the section out by a couple of inches. You can then pull on the trim to remove it from the entire length of the rail.
Once you have removed the existing Herzim trim, you should clean your rail to ensure that it is free from dirt or grime. These rails are usually manufactured from Aluminium, so an Aluminium cleaner should remove the dirt and bring back its original appearance.
We’ve previously published another video on how to measure your current trim to identify a suitable replacement. You can find this on our website at www.sealsdirect.co.uk or our YouTube channel.
Insert the New Herzim Trim
When it comes to fitting the new trim, we recommend leaving 5 to 10cm of the section hanging out of the end of the channel. This will allow for shrinkage if the trim is unintentionally stretched during fitting. This may not always be possible if you are fitting this section around a door or locker where the rail is a continuous. You can cut off this excess after a few days when the Herzim trim has had a chance to settle.
To insert the new trim, squeeze 1 to 2cm into the end of the rail. You should then tuck one side of the trim under one lip on the rail. You can then use the roller to push the opposite side of the trim under the opposite lip in the rail.
It will take lots of small backwards and forwards movements, but this will slowly help insert the trim into the channel.
