Plain Expanded Neoprene Sponge Strip

Plain expanded neoprene sponge strip is manufactured from closed-cell materials that do not absorb water. This enables the product to be used within the automotive, marine and engineering industry sectors to cushion equipment and stop water ingress. Expanded neoprene has a very good resistance to UV, air and ozone so can reliably be used in outdoor environments.

Supplied in a selection of widths and thicknesses, expanded neoprene sponge strip can be used to cushion glass in aluminium window channels, create watertight seals and protect sensitive equipment from vibrations. As we recommend that you do not compress a sponge section by more than 30%, this selection of thicknesses allows you to choose a product that compresses without the risk of compression set. For example, we recommend using 6mm thick sponge strip to seal a 4mm gap.

Sponge strip can be bonded onto most surfaces, such as plastic, wood and metal. Although expanded neoprene can be used with most adhesives, we recommend using a good quality contact adhesive if there is a large amount of water present. This will ensure a strong bond to the underlying surface.
